If you already live in Traverse City you know why it has been recognized over and over again as the Best Small Town in America! However if you are about to move to the area I will be the first to say welcome, and enjoy! There is so much to love about Traverse City and the surrounding communities. I will highlight a few awesome features below, but contact me to learn more.
The Great Outdoors
Living on the water can bring so much joy and recreation to your life. Traverse City bases their festivals around the water! Many residents and tourists enjoy The National Cherry Festival from their boats out on the bay. The bay provides beauty and recreation year round. For instance; boating, fishing, sailing, swimming, kayaking, water sports, ice fishing, ice sailing, and so much more! There are many smaller lakes and rivers close by as well.
Once you tire of the water why not take a hike through the woods. Or a bike ride along the paved Tart Trail that will take you all the way to Suttons Bay. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, Traverse City is the place to be. We look forward to welcoming you to your new home.
Food and Drink and Festivals
Who knew that Northern Michigan was the place to find some of the best wine in the world? Traverse city is surrounded by vineyards and amazing wineries. But the main crop of the area is tart cherries. The gorgeous fields of cherry trees attract visitors from far and wide to see the blossoms in the spring. We love cherries so much we have an entire week-long yearly festival to celebrate. Cherry Festival has something for everyone. Most noteworthy are the nightly concerts and the airshow.
This lovely town is also home to some of the finest cuisine you will find. Stroll Front Street downtown and enjoy everything from sushi to Italian. Restaurant week over the winter is a great time for the locals to get out and try all that their town has to offer.
Small Town Community
Having lived all over the US before settling in a small town, I didn’t know what to expect and appreciate about a community like Traverse City. The locals will complain about the traffic, but anyone coming from a larger city will love the easy flow of traffic and how few traffic lights you will find. In most of the surround small towns you will find – ZERO – traffic lights. I never realized how much I would love that. There are fun events all year round. Halloween in downtown TC is a big deal!
Other than traffic lights you will find a community that rallies behind it’s members in need. Community events are put on by volunteers, and the community pride is very evident. Please reach out if you have any questions about the area. I would love to help you find your home up north!
