Leland is the quintessential small town. Everyone knows everyone, and everyone is ready to lend a hand when needed. My family loves being part of the Leland community. Despite it’s small size, Leland has so much to offer to residents and visitors alike. This coastal town is nestled between Lake Michigan and Lake Leelanau. As you can imagine, there are gorgeous views everywhere you look. It is a perfectly walk-able town that is filled with restaurants, shops, beaches, hiking trails, and community. The picture below is of the eclipse we witnessed with the community all together at the Leland Public Library.
The Leland Wine and Food Festival is an annual tradition. It is held on the second Saturday of June each year. The festival features regional wines and delicious foods from local chefs. In true community fashion the event is partially staffed by local volunteers. In addition to the amazing food and wine, there will be live music and artist booths to enjoy.
The Leland 4th of July Parade is another awesome event that the entire county appreciates. There are so many floats representing everything from local businesses to dance troops, and honoring our Veterans. My family has delighted in being a part of the school float for the last few years. Such a great addition to our Independence Day celebrations.
I could write an entire post about Leland Public School (and I probably will). My children are lucky to be a part of this school that is 100% focused on the education of every child. LPS has worked hard to become an International Baccalaureate World School in grades K-10. If you are thinking of making the move to Leland, or anywhere in the larger Leland school district, you can’t go wrong.
